"I told you," the Corinthian half snapped, glaring sidelong at the demon as they walked. "I've had worse than your kind on my ass before and survived where they didn't. If this guy actually shows up again, I'll handle him."
A small amount of offense carried into the tone when he probably didn't mean for it to, but he didn't care. He said nothing more for several minutes, leaving a silence full of tension either from the demon's earlier action or from the situation overall. When he finally did continue, his voice softened.
"We have to go to the hotel. You need to rest, and I'm sure as hell not leaving you out here while you're like this."
